LIZ JORDAN

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Liz Jordan is the founder and Director of thMTHRshp, a fine arts gallery and collective. She earned a BA in Art History from the University of Louisville and began her art sales career at the Kentucky Museum of Arts and Crafts in 2007. In 2012, Liz helped establish the health-sector nonprofit, Girls with Guts, a female-focused resource and community for women diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and living with Ostomies. She served as their Director of Development until 2014 when she turned her focus to literacy support for English as a Second Language students, serving children and adults in the DFW area. From there, she worked with students diagnosed with dyslexia, autism, and ADHD and continued her education by completing Dynamic Mindfulness Training with the Niroga Institute in 2018 to support her students with a trauma-informed approach. In all these endeavors, Liz incorporated the practice and appreciation of art, as it has been a constant source of expression and healing for her.

Liz became a mother in 2018 and was inspired and empowered by her discovery of Motherhood Art and the community surrounding it. After meeting Sarah Creasman Barnett at a neighborhood park with their daughters, Liz and Sarah connected through their shared love of art and their experiences as new moms during the pandemic.

Liz’s experiences serving communities in nonprofits, arts, and education sectors, and her serendipitous meeting with Sarah inspired her to create thMTHRshp as a unique art gallery with social justice and community outreach offerings. Liz and all thMTHRshp artists are working to create the world we wants for ourselves, our children, and all those seeking equality.
